February Activities

Date: February 2024

In February, R.E.A.L. Science carried out seven activities across many regions of Greece.

We began the month at the 1st General Lyceum of Kozani, where we were delighted to deliver two online sessions, tailored to the students’ chosen academic fields.

  • The first session, held on Friday, February 16, was for students of the 2nd and 3rd scientific fields, with presentations by volunteers Olga Biskou, Konstantinos Kakosimos, and Konstantinos Voutyras.
  • The second session, on February 23, focused on the 1st and 4th scientific fields, with volunteers Chara Triantafyllidou, Katerina Bompolaki, and Christos Afentoulis.

We warmly thank Ms. Ourania Theodoridou and Ms. Argyro Lamprou for their invitation, excellent organization, and seamless collaboration. Their feedback—excellent organization and flawless cooperation—was deeply appreciated.

We then continued with an activity at the Junior High School of Axioupoli, once again in collaboration with educator Anastasia Oikonomou, who also teaches there. We spoke to 9th‑grade students about post‑junior‑high pathways, the world of mathematics, and agricultural sciences. Our volunteers were Viktoria Taroudaki, Evangelia Iakovaki, and Dimitra Kyrgiafini. We thank the students for listening so attentively and for the thoughtful questions they shared.

Next, we visited a school where one of our own volunteers, Elena Arvaniti, teaches and wished to introduce her students to a wide range of scientific fields. For this reason, the activity lasted two full hours, giving students the chance to explore multiple specialties and continue asking questions even after school hours had ended. Volunteers included Georgios Athanasopoulos, Anthi Paschalidou, Olga Biskou, Despina Demenega, and Angelos Karanikolas. We warmly thank Elena for the invitation and the excellent collaboration—and we look forward to returning soon so students can discover the exciting world of computer science they are eager to explore.

Finally, the month concluded with a school that has trusted us for a second consecutive year: the 3rd General Lyceum of Polichni. This time, we joined them online for a remote session. Volunteers Konstantina Rossi, Panagiotis Adam, and Dimitrios Theodosopoulos presented new specialties selected by the students themselves. The activity was a great success. We extend our heartfelt thanks to the
